Internships
AN IMPORTANT PERIOD TO PUT YOUR ACQUIRED SKILLS INTO PRATICE
Goals
What are the internship objectives at ISBA TP?
The internship is the final point of the learning period. It allows an objective final assessment of the skills acquired by each student. It must necessarily take place in the construction sector. It can cover several aspects:
- Design (project management offices): The intern must choose the calculation methods, do the modeling and appreciate and comment on the results. They must grasp a given project in its entirety. They can take part in the drafting of written contractual documents in connection with the structure they will have dimensioned. Beyond their missions of pure structural design calculations, the intern can also participate in a management of the work execution assignment, without ittaking up all of their time.
- Construction site (Construction work management): The intern is faced with issues of organization, laying out, coordination, and construction site management. The internship focuses mainly on large-scale assignments. Its missions also include technical, legal and financial management.
- Expertise (laboratories and technical design offices): The intern is confronted with technical and methodological issues related to expert operations. He must be able to carry out all the verification calculations of an existing structure and propose adequate repair solutions.
- Controls (control offices).
FINDING AN INTERNSHIP
How does the internship search period work?
Internships start in June. The preparation for internship research is the subject of particular attention on the part of the school. Indeed, more than 50% of internships lead to a fixed-term or permanent contract, so the internship can quickly turn into a trial period before employment. It is important that the student can:
- Target the companies that best meet their professional aspirations,
- Propose a CV and cover letter adapted to the needs of the target company,
- Pass a job interview.
The school becomes leading source of advice on these various points, thanks in particular to:
- Checking CVs and cover letters before sending them to companies,
- Various interviews allowing the student to have a clear professional project adapted to the needs of companies,
- The setting up of mini maintenance simulation workshops.
