Blower Door Test

Blower Door Test: an essential tool for measuring the quality of a building's envelope and detecting invisible air leaks.

At ISBA TP, we train the experts of the future in high-performance, sustainable buildings.

🔍 Last week, our fourth- and fifth-year students tried out the Blower Door Test: an essential tool for measuring the quality of a building’s envelope and detecting invisible air leaks.

⚙️ How does it work?

A calibrated fan creates negative pressure in the building, which allows us to quantify air leakage, locate leaks with a thermal camera and anemometer, and calculate key indicators such as the n50 index or Q4Pa.

🎯Educational objectives

Our students learn to analyze the energy performance of buildings, identify design or construction flaws, and propose corrective solutions.

This is essential for reducing energy consumption, improving indoor comfort, contributing to air quality, and meeting RE2020, BBC, and Passivhaus standards.

💡 A practical skill to support the energy transition and build a more sustainable future.
